The Outness Spectrum
For self-reflection and education · not a diagnosis
Coming out isn't one door — it's a map. See who knows this part of you, corner by corner of your life.
The construct here is credited with gratitude to the 'life domains' idea in Mohr & Fassinger's (2000) Outness Inventory — the insight that how open you are can differ completely from one circle of life to another. This tool is an original reconstruction of that construct: every item is newly written, none reproduce the original scale, and it is not an official version.
There is no right or wrong, higher or lower, level of outness. Being out to friends while keeping it private from parents is a long-term normal for many people — it is not being fake. Safety always comes first.
