About OpenLGBT
We want to build the most trustworthy, gentlest LGBTQ+ education and self-exploration site on the Chinese-speaking internet — helping people understand sexual and gender minorities accurately, dissolving myths and stereotypes, and helping anyone who is questioning understand themselves with kindness.
Three editorial principles
- Gentle, not preachy — we think alongside you rather than lecture at you.
- Scientific and honest — every article cites sources, and we disclose the limits of our quizzes and models.
- Culturally grounded — filial piety, marriage pressure, xinghun, the queer history of imperial China: real Chinese-context topics are our core, not a footnote.
Our commitments
- Free forever, no signup, no ads.
- No venture capital, no selling data — quiz answers never leave your browser, so there is nothing to sell.
- We never auto-recommend coming out; safety always comes first.
